Data Backup

It is important to do data backup of important information to a second medium.  Some people choose disk or tape as the backup medium depending on what and how much information is backed up.  Depending on the situation and the amount of data being backed up there are advantages to both tape and disk backup.  Tape data backup can hold a lot of information and can be left alone without much maintenance.  Disk data backup systems can backup data a lot faster than tape but require you inserting the disk and removing it then storing it usually everyday or weekly depending on the scheduled data backup frequency and the amount of information.  DVD-RAM disks hold a lot of information and are very fast compared to tape backup systems and the advantage is they are random access instead of sequential like tape.  As DVD-RAM data backup disks and software programs are able to hold more data and transfer information at higher speeds they might approach the price of cheaper tape data backup systems.
